Malaga doesn't only score points with its sensational gastronomy, fantastic weather and kilometers of beaches as excellent attractions - but also with its rich cultural heritage. It is one of the oldest cities in the world. It was founded by the Phoenicians and was still of great importance to the Moors. Many interesting historical buildings in the city itself and in their surroundings testify to this influential past.

Tradition

Nowadays, Malaga is again a fashionable city, trying to preserve its traditions and the historical heritage gracefully. On the one hand, it has one of the largest remaining Alcazaba fortresses in the world and on the other hand it manages to appreciate the more recent history. The boom in recent years is visible in the construction of the beautiful new Thyssen and Picasso museums.

Beautiful Andalusia

The timeless scenic beauty of the region - magnificent coastal sections as well as wild-romantic mountain chains and the many picturesque villages convince every traveller their journey was worth it. The town itself, surrounded by the mountains Sierra de Mijas and Montes de Málagain, lies in a bay directly on the Mediterranean. Like the entire Costa del Sol it enjoys pleasantly mild winter months, but rather hot summer months. For incentives it is especially recommended during the spring and autumn months for ideal temperatures. Those who appreciate local festivities should visit Holy Week, with their impressive processions or the "Feria de Agosto". This spectacle has been celebrated for 500 years as the largest summer festival of the Costa de Sol and - according to the Malagueños - the whole Mediterranean region.

Fresh fish and seafood

The typical cuisine of Malaga is Mediterranean: light and healthy. It is especially convincing with seafood dishes. In all variations, grilled or cooked and as a "Pescaito Frito" fish, which is dipped in flour and then fried in a pan of olive oil. The international airport and the redesigned harbor connect the cosmopolitan city with the rest of the world. It is also the ideal starting point for trips to Ronda, Granada or Caminito del Rey, the famous rock-hewn hiking trail. Despite the fast connection, we recommend planning at least three days for events because in addition to the many possibilities for day trips there is an incredible amount of things to experience.
